Day 45 (a day late)

Chicken and rice for lunch. Getting drenched in the rains for tea. Meeting Shutapa for beer and dinner. Girl talk and boy issues for during-dinner conversation. Drunk waiter who takes forever to bring menu, then order, and finally, bill. But food at Silver Grill rocks. Pre-meeting with Shutapa, got wet at Chandni and kept getting wet all the way to Park Street. Shutz also decided to get wet in the rain while waiting for me. Was very nice meeting her after ages. Well, not that long -- met her in Feb this year. We drank and ate and drank and ate some more... and then she dropped me home :D

A good day overrall.

There's lots to write about today. But I'm too tired to do justice to it, so will keep it for tomorrow's post. Then I will bring blog up to date also. For now, tata and gnite.

Day 44

I’m tired. I’m sleepy. I can’t think straight. This is what happens the morning after. The morning after a night out that is.

There was chicken, and music, and booze, and many drunk people who gave rise to stories that I'm keeping aside for a later date. Like I said, I’m tired and sleepy and can’t think straight. Slept for barely thirty to forty minutes last night. That too, rather fitfully. Dreamily heard folks mentioning how hard I was trying to sleep unsuccessfully, and felt overpowered by the pressure to pull off a sleeping beauty. Couldn't take the load. Gave up, got up and stayed awake, albeit a little zombie-like, thereafter.

I look hungover. Minus the dope, the booze, the acid pills. The things lack of sleep can do to a girl.

I somehow sleepwalked (sleepsat rather) through my Sunday morning office work. Having managed somewhat, I put my head on the table and had the whole office spinning around me. Like in the song.

The ACs were non-functioning as usual. This being a Sunday. The 3rd floor loo was shut. So had to take the lift to the 2nd floor toilet. It's almost like going to another building for a loo trip.

Added at 10 p.m.: Moori having formed today's special breakfast item, I was hungry all morning, till I finally could take it no longer and stole part of Shreya's tiffin from right under her nose. Lunch happened at four with Ma. Soup and chilli pork roast. Then bag shopping for the mother -- which got over quick, quick, quick. Then juice near house. Then house. Then sleep. Then dinner. Chicken. Again.

Getting Up2Date

I'd resolved to post daily, but the Delhi trip made it all go awry. Here is a compensation post to comfort my somewhat-guilty conscience.

5th Feb
Went to Shutapa's place. Shopped wholesale for sweaters at Sarojini Nagar. Bought many packets of 50-rupee sweaters and sweatshirts, on Ma's orders.

6th Feb
Job interview at the book fair. Went off well. Bought 3 books. Plus, very cute Spanish guy manning a counter spoke to me. (He just offered to help me pick out some books... but keep that hush-hush.)

7th Feb
Another interview. Not as bad as I thought it'd be. And long ride back to Gurgaon from Kalkaji. Watched "American Gangster" -- good movie, but you have to pay attention thoughout.

8th Feb
Night-out plans: Elevate in Noida.
Needed a shampoo, but first the geyser refused to switch on, and then the water ran out and refused to run back in. Result: unshampooed hair. Wore my hot new 99-rupee top and a sweater to bust the chill factor. But it was too cold throughout to remove the sweater :( What a waste. Winter ain't a good time to go partying. Plus, the DJ only (ONLY) played trance and the rum-and-coke did not provide the much-needed kick.

9th Feb
Woke up late. Rushed to get to movie. "Mithya" -- Different. Worth a watch. Like a play on celluloid. Overpriced Yo!China lunch. A combo for two that came with only a single glass of pepsi. Grocery shopping with 2 bachelors trying to cook. Lotsa fun :D Mexican food for dinner to the background music of Vengaboyz and Aqua.

10th Feb
Travel day again. The sun is out in Delhi. India is winning the match, though the Australians ensure that Dhoni and the other guy (I forget who) take their time. I like travelling, even if my legs get entangled while trying to climb up to the upper berth on the train. Some people are just not meant to live lives of great physical activity. Travelling via Rajdhani is great. They give a lot of food throughout the journey. I have noisy, but non-interfering co-passengers. Good. I can read my book in peace (Coetzee's "Slow Man"; borrowed from the boyfriend).

11th Feb
Wake up at 7:20 in panic. The people on the lower berth seem to have finished breakfast. But no.. it's just tea. Breakfast time is at 8. Unfortunately, we are stuck at Asansol for nearly 3 hours because the overhead wires have torn a few stations away. Sigh. The result is that the train (and hence, we the passengers) is late by 6 hours. A good thing too. I manage to finish the book :D

12th Feb
No work lined up for today. Meeting Shutapa in half an hour. She returns to Delhi tomorrow. I want to buy a nice pair of jeans that do not need belts to hold 'em up.

A few hours later:
Did not get jeans. Bought tees instead. Ate mutton roll. Miss chicken.

Poojo the Party Animal?

... When did that happen?

Went out clubbing last night. It was Roush's bday. We boozed lots. Broke a glass while dancing. A friend broke another. Someone else mistimed landing his bottle on the table. Eventually emerged out with ringing ears and voices that seemed to emerge from our heads and legs that felt like either jam/jelly/chutney.

I'm very boring when I drink. I don't fight or sing loud or try to climb walls or anything. I feel strange inside my head. But that's about it. I don't talk crap either... except when friends suggest I'm still in love with the one ex that I have managed to get over completely. Then I launch off into 5 minutes of philosophy. But that's about it. And it's no more than 5 minutes.

My life quality has improved suddenly. Yes, I am beginning to get joined to my comp. But I did go on my first date after 2 years. And then suddenly, I was off partying. Again, after 2 long drearily dull years!

But today I'm too tired to do much else other than get joined to the comp again. It's a lot less tiring than a lot of things.
