I need to need to leave my job. It's (a) depressing me as much as my earlier one did, and (b) making me feel trapped. The first can be dealt with. The second is the biggest no-no possible.
And strangely enough, last year, almost exactly this time, I was at pretty much the same crossroads (Refer here, here, here, and here for last year's job woes). Colleague just told me that Boss is planning to change our timings to 12 pm to 8-9pm. If that's the case, I'm quitting right away. Would make the decision a whole lot easier for me.
If you are reading between the lines or know me well enough, it's probably clear that I've already decided. The timing is still a question though. Let's see how soon I get pushed over the edge.
PS: I'd almost forgotten that I had started using new labels. :P Went straightaway to the old ones.

HUG

I am thinking now is the time for you to go to Africa and becoming an adventuress.
Maybe Africa needs a journalist.
I am obsessed with the country.
sorry, but I'm not going to be cavalier abt this... you really can't keep switching jobs or spheres of work, babe... we ain't gettin' any younger, right? and you do wanna have a semblance of a career, right? I'm not asking you to stay at a place that you don't like but you must give a place and field of work some time and then decide... lest you wanna be tagged a quitter! choose somethin' and give it some time... frequent job-changes just like summer romances are fun and exciting but we can't do it for the rest of our lives... Think abt it... you're a sensible girl anyway:-)...
@ Coffee
Chhere dewar plans postponed to later date.
@ WIAN?
It's never all bad. Never. Even when it is. I be a fierce optimist. Come what may :)
@ AC
HUG back.
@ AL
I'll go as adventuress. Not as journo. Tag along with me. Adventuresses need company too.
@ Shutz
(a) Stupid and idealistic as it may sound, I don't want a career; just work that I enjoy.
(b) As for frequent job changes... I've only had two jobs till date... One lasted 2.5 years. This would have lasted a year even if I resigned today and started serving my 3-month notice period.
(c) Don't worry. I won't do something stupid. Not in times of recession at least.
i support rishi!
chere de! chere de!
jobs r pointless. they make u mindless money hungry zombies!
@ Solo
I love you... in a very non-lesbian way.
I wish all of us had the luxury to be idealistic... alas, some of us swallow the ideals, work practically today so that tomorrow is easier to handle...I have already started calling my lot the 'workin' class heroes' of today...:-)
sorry, dont agree with shutapa...its important to be happy in life n definitely be happy at work, coz thats probably the only aspect of life that's really 'in ur face'. i speak from experience...job satisfaction is important n a good job not only makes u happy, but also gives u the necessary peace of mind. so pooja, pls go for it...CHHERE DE...it really isnt worth it.
@Madhu
There is no debate at all abt whether one should stick to a job if they aint happy doin' it... that's not the question... the question is that achieving the ideal is rather idealistic in the first place... things like financial security and a cushy life, make it easier for a person to be whimsical abt their careers... some just can't afford to it... responsibilities come in the way, you see... at the same time, sometimes the best job can drive you to hell most of the times but boy, when it's good, it can make you touch the stars with elation...:-) all I'm merely saying is that adequate time and clear thinking abt what one wants to do with their life is important...
