Day 60

Another working Sunday slithers past.
Another manic Monday creeps in.
With every day, a little older.
With every day, so much more to do.

I could go on with the unhappy poem that doesn't rhyme. But I won't. What I will say is that I'd like a portable hug machine. Press a button, get a hug. Something like that. Coz invariably I feel like I need a hug when I'm squashed into a thin line in the auto, and I can't exactly ask one of those ugly men to give me a hug, though some of those perves would be happy to.

My Tilottoma story is up on the 'My City' section of the ilovekolkata website, if you feel like checking it out. It's just a report, but it would be nice if you dropped by.

A friend of mine is in 'lurve' -- he made me type out the name of his latest crush while we were chatting this evening. You are allowed to guess who this guy is. Not that tough to figure out either.

Have an 8 to 4 shift starting tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll manage to sneak away from office on time.

I've eaten too much dinner. Now I cannot move. Barely.

Day 43

This started off by being not such a good day. I reached work on time, only to find that the actual work would start an hour later. Aaargh!! So I went grumble, grumble, grumble in my mind for an hour. And then... things changed.

:)

Shutapa called to say that she's going to be here for my b'day. And I went, Yay! :D Just yesterday, I was toying with the idea of ditching the Happy B'day to Me idea once and for all, just eating good food and cake and leaving it at that. But Shutapa's arrival changes things. I don't have as few friends as I thought I did. Okay, so she isn't exactly flying down for my b'day, but the timing couldn't be any better. I love that girl so much. :D Yay!

Also, Rahul 'Chomu' Kunda just messaged his new number. I was wondering where that boy had gone and gotten lost. So, that's another fellow to invite. Boyfriends may come and boyfriends may go, but Chomu Kunda is forever. Even if we talk just about once a month; sometimes less often than that.

Watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Free tickets from office. Found it kinda juvenile (though some of the dialogues are super-cool) and it was tooooooo similar to The Mummy movies. If you do want to win Indian Jones movie tickets, log on to http://www.ilovekolkata.in/content/section/47/1698. There are loadza tickets just waiting to be won.

Was introduced to this weird friend of a colleague. I was kinda distracted, so I didn't catch his name, but I smiled politely and held out my hand for a handshake, and he did a nomoshkar while my handed remained suspended mid-air (and this being a 20-something guy!!)! I kept thinking, Okay, ebaare nomoshkaarer shomoi shesh hoye jaabe, then he will shake hands. Hah! You think! I got fed up after several weird seconds and did a maha awkward nomoshkar of my own and wondered: "what the hey?!"

Day 24

24 -- my age by this date next month. Remember to wish me. Gifts, cards and treats will be highly appreciated.

Incidentally, May 7 is also the day three years ago when I got together with Boyfriend No. 3 -- but that did not last long. It's weird to think 3 years have passed since then. He's happily married and living down under with his Aussie citizen wifey now, and his Gtalk status message says: "Oh you poor lonely souls" :P

I promised myself I would not ramble on for too long today. But this looks like the start of another long post. Except that I have very little to say today.

I fell asleep again last night with my nose in the Grisham book -- and it isn't even a boring one. It's super-quick reading, and interesting, and it has all these cool legal eagles and conniving-conspiring politicos. So I can't quite figure out why I keep dropping off with my nose in the book and the light on. Ma suggested that I sit up straight if I want to finish the book. I think I'll do that today. Have to return it by Friday as it is. Oops, I think tomorrow is D-day... Otherwise 30 rupees more. No way Jose. I reach the last page of 'The Appeal' today!! Watch this space.

And... I did this test:

Am happy :D

Day 18: Part II

Just when you least expect it, thoughts of ex-boyfriends decide to haunt you and send Mr. Sleep packing. Interestingly, it's almost exactly a month since the breakup, give or take a few days. Coincidences and weird connections rule my life. E.g.: Breakups with Boyfriend No. 1 and Boyfriend No. 2 happened on the same date -- 19th Jan -- though it was three years apart. I was quite freaked out when I realized this. Luckily, I've managed to overcome the 19th-January jinx. [Heaves sigh of relief]

Am feeling very pathetically Ally Mcbeal-ish. I just wish I could land up at office wearing minis like her. :P

Day 16

I went to Eden. Again. :D

The ticket wasn't originally meant for me, but looks like I was supposed to have it. I'm happy. So what if the Knight Riders lost. I got to the see that wicket do double quintuple somersaults with that Ishant Sharma delivery.

What can I say Ishant? Even with your super-scary smile, I still am a fan.

P.S.: While at Eden, Madz and I saw a jhogra also. The cops were too busy eating to interfere at the time.

P.S.S.: I just had KFC :) Despite a lot of irritability clouding my mind since yesterday morning and continuing through today, (I actually snapped at a colleague who was trying to irritate me) I have finally had a good end to 2 bad days. Yay!

Day 7

Just a short one today. Very tired. Had office. A lot of ups and downs (commute-wise, not emotion-wise). Went to Eden. Watched match. Knight Riders won. Thankee all for praying for their success. Met Coffee Stain who tagged along and was quite a hit.Drank lots of water, and perspired it all away. Have lost most of the unwanted flab. Am fitting into my old tees again. Yay! Ate biriyani. Washed off all the sweat. And now I don't want to sleep but my eyes are drooping like Sanjay Dutt's. Review of Eden etc later.

Day 6

Still to buy the guitar. Was too hot to take a walk down Freeschool Street.

Have work tomorrow. Have to figure out a way to get to Eden tomorrow and meet the-one-who-holds-the-tickets. How complicated!

Very hot and sticky. What a time to hold big-hype matches in Kolkata!!!

There was something else I wanted to say... but I can't remember. Oh yeah... I wish there was a way of blocking certain people from viewing certain posts from time to time. Then I could grumble about the world without any hesitation at all. Such joy that would be.

In the meantime, please pray that the Kolkata Knights ride a wave of victory tomorrow.

Rambling Today

Met the elder brother of a grand-aunt today. And he speaks so well. We -- I will do away with the royal "we" just this once. I always have this idea that all my Bong relatives speak English in the Bengali way. With elongated vowels, and a "V" that sounds more like a "W", and a "hiss" that actually goes "hissh" (Not being condescending there. Just exercising my powers of observation). However, this gentleman spoke perfectly unaccented, highly educated English dating back to the days of the British Raj. Lovely!

And old people love to comment on the pitiful state of the young people of the world. He spoke about how we never have time to stand and stare at sheep or cows any more. (How I love that poem – Daffodils by Wordsworth). I nodded in agreement as I always do when I'm not interested in getting into a debate -- which is most times. I'm more of the spectator. Let others get into the fight. I'll be part of the circle that forms around them, watches the fun, does nothing about it, goes home and writes about it in their blog. :D
Apathy, your name is Pooja!

I did see a fight on the bus today. Old man got very excited about something and kept shouting in his once-deep-now-shrill voice. But this happened at the other end of the bus. Two standing men were blocking my view. Such a pity!

Watched That 70s Show after ages. Fez was having a feud with this gay landlord (The lord of the land, if you prefer). And now I want to feud with somebody. Not quarrel. Not fight. Not wrestle. Just feud. The elder brother of the grand-aunt was right. We are missing out on so much -- no time to stand, stare, or even feud. (Yes. I will put that word in italics every single time!).

A friend of mine was looking through her inbox and came across some mails I sent her almost exactly two years ago. I had just shifted to Mumbai, was having adjustment issues, and took every free moment to crib about the place. My only outlet was my diary and these superlong mails that my friends got in their mailbox at least twice a week. Except that, I was apparently entertaining enough for them to get their best friends and/or significant others to read :D Even now that's an ego boost.

Here's an excerpt from two years ago. Mail to a friend who I was scared would remain boyfriendless forever:
"Find yourself a nice bf soon. I’m not saying cute... coz cute guys have become obsolete. I have yet to see a really cute guy in Bbay. It’s so sad. All the guys I see are like a 6 on 10. Mostly less than that. Have seen two or three 7s on 10. But no more. It’s so sad!!!! Where did all the cute guys go????????"

That last question still holds, with a few (very few) exceptions of course.

Deleting Ugliness

This has to be the ugliest blog in the history of bloggerama! I need to fix it. This has to be the ugliest green. The font is all wrong. There are no pictures. Aaaargh. Ugly! Ugly! Ugly! Ugly! And I am the caretaker of this stupendous ugliness!
***
I finally decided to delete somebody from my life. After years of telling myself that people are generally nice... I decided to cut this dumb wannabe dude out of my list of "Nice" people.. and hence, outta my life. (Sounds corny when I write it. Doesn't sound at all corny in my head.)
P.S.: I did hesitate a little before hitting the final delete button.
***
My kuttis are sprawled over my bed. One is flat on her back with her legs up in the air. Sigh.. I wish i were a dog.
Change that. I wish I were a famous dog.
***
I need to get a boyfriend. Its been ages since i went on a date... Over a year at least. Is it time to break my oath of loyalty to singledom? And who will i break it with? Now that is the real question.

Getting My Goat!

Some people really get my goat. Insensitivity drives me wild even when I'm in my best moods. Now if only that wasn't just a goat. I wish it was some manic-psychotic, scum-chewing, flesh-pricking ghoul that specialized in bad jokes and smelly farts. Sigh... Then all those insensitive blokes would know better than to get MY goat!!
